Godairiki-sen

Since the Edo period (1603-1867), "Godairiki-sen" had played a significant role in transporting goods between Boso and Keihin. It was also named "Kisarazu Ship" with its port located in Kisarazu. In the Meiji and Taisho periods, it engaged in the transportation of rice, wood charcoal, lumber, dried seaweed, and miscellaneous goods, etc., and transport materials for dried laver from Boso to the coast of Ota Ward. The ship was also named "Straw Boat" because it carried the straw that made the drying platform of laver.

KIsarazu-sen

Kisarazu-ship was the common name for the five great power ships that operated in Tokyo Bay.

During Osaka Natsu-no-jin, 24 sailors from Kisarazu took part in the Tokugawa's war, and 12 of them died in the war. In order to help their relatives, they were given the right to operate the ship between Edo and Boso. She was so powerful that she gave up her route when other ships saw her at Kisarazu.

This ship was one of the most popular attractions in Kisarazu from the Edo period to the Meiji and Taisho periods, and was in service until around the 10th year of the Showa period. It was used until around the 10th year of the Showa period.
